Partially because of your help, the Frost Community Center can provide the necessities for over 120 families in the community.

Facts about Frost Community Center and Food Pantry 2021

The Frost Community Center is entirely funded by donations, grants and two fundraisers yearly. Due to COVID-19, we only had one small fundraiser (collecting shoes) which made less than $5oo, but we were blessed to receive several grants totaling over $8,ooo in 2020. We also received a number of donations and memorials which sustained us. Those monies, along with the fact that we only had to pay for our food from North Texas Food Bank until March, kept us operating without our major fundraiser. Our project budget for 2021 is $23,600,  up slightly from 2020.  

Besides giving food to those in need, we provide other necessities. We give diapers and formula to clients with babies, and adult diapers, bedpads, and protein shakes to cancer patients or the elderly.

We also provide, on a limited basis, help with utilities in emergency situations. This is limited to two times per client.

Other services, besides the Food Pantry, that the Frost Community Center sponsors are:

• Scholarships to graduating Seniors of Frost High School. We gave $500 scholarships to each applicant in 2020. (The amount varies due to how many apply.)
• Citywide Garage Sale in the Fall, co-sponsored by the City of Frost.
• A "Little Library" on the outside of the Center of children's books available for free.
• A Book Club, which meets monthly at the Center.
• Science in the Park - monthly science lessons in City Park during summer. We have plans to expand the activities in the future, after the COVID pandemic has abated. Possible activities could be a reading program, puppet show, or a monthly family movie night.
• Easter Egg Hunt in City Park

The biggest item we spend our money on is food for the Food Pantry. As of today, projections are that we will be paying for our food from North Texas Food Bank again by early summer, if the COVID-19 situation continues to get better. North Texas Food Bank has already started charging for bags and other non-food supplies.

Our next largest expenses are for utilities, insurance, and travel. Our travel expenses should be drastically reduced as we have just contracted with North Texas Food Bank to deliver our food directly to the Pantry, as opposed to us having to pick it up in Corsicana as we had been having to do. 

We are saving our money now to replace some of our older home refrigerators with commercial grade refrigerators and freezers.

We greatly appreciate all donations that are given to the Center and Food Pantry. We work very hard to be good stewards of the money we receive.

We have a great group of volunteers who are very committed to serving our community and the surrounding area.
