Written So That We May Know

John writes, I write these things to you so that you may know. What was John talking about? He was talking about all of the things written in this epistle to bring unbelievers (John 20:31) to faith and for Christians the assurance of knowing that those who believe in the name of the Son of God have eternal life. He stated: "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. and this is the confidence that we have toward him that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us (1 John 5:13-14).

John wrote this epistle to give believers confidence that they possessed eternal life. If you are struggling with the assurance of salvation put your faith, hope, and trust in God. If you believe in Jesus Christ and have made the profession of faith, you can rest assured that you are part of the family of God and have eternal life through Christ Jesus. Let the words from the pages of Scripture lift your soul and give you confidence in the one who gave you life, for these are the inspired Words of God (2 Timothy 3:16).

LORD, thank you for these powerful words you have given us as assurance for those who believe in the Son of God, Jesus Christ. I thank you that you love us and have sent your Son to redeem a broken people. Thank you for giving us the confidence to continue in the faith through your word. May we study it and apply it to our life so that we may be pleasing in your sight. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
