God is a promise-keeping God (Isaiah 55:11 ESV). He is light in the darkness (John 1:5). And because he is, we can take comfort in his timing to bring about his promises. God cannot forget, for once he makes a promise, it is sure. God himself intervened to bring full and final salvation for those that he has called his own. And this is the promise that he made to us — eternal life (1 John 2:25).
Lord, I come to you with a humble heart. When I feel anxious about the day, you give me peace. When sorrow feels my heart, you give me comfort. When I don't understand, you give me wisdom. It is because of you I can find rest within my soul. As the world rages on in a fast tempo away from you, I run with endurance toward you. I find my strength in you and because of you. I fall on my knees with my face to the ground in awe of how you love us. You sent Your Son to die in my place. I can never repay my debt by my own righteousness. There are none righteous, no not one. We have all sinned and fallen short of your glory. May we turn back to you God of our salvation and repent of our sin. Give us the strength to continue the race, to finish toward the high calling. Let us not miss the mark. It is in Jesus precious name I pray, amen.
