The Danger of "Another Gospel"
The danger of "another gospel" is a very real threat to our day. But this is nothing new. The Scriptures warn against such persons. This warning is just as applicable and relevant for the modern day in which we live as it was for those who lived within the pages of Scripture. It is up to you and I to know what the Scriptures say and apply it to our lives. There are those who come to us as false teachers preaching a different gospel — not that there is another one — turning it into something that is totally opposite and contrary to the Gospel of Christ. Each individual person should dig into Scripture for ourselves and pray that the Holy Spirit will lead us into the understanding of God's message to man. For if we are not willing to study Scripture for ourselves, we shall be lead astray. The difference between the Gospel of Christ and "another gospel" is the difference between the blessed and the cursed, the sheep and the goats, the saved and the lost, the true church and cults, the truth and a lie.
In Galatians 1:6-9 Paul wrote: "I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel — not that there is one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preach to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you recieved, let him be accursed.
Lord, thank you for Your Word. How applicable and relevant it is to our lives just as it was for those who lived thousands of years ago. Your Word is living and active. You made your Word readily available for all who would open and learn of you. It is in the pages of Scripture that speaks your truth of Jesus Christ. Lord, help us to have the wisdom from the Holy Spirit to understand what the Scriptures say and apply it to our lives. May we be pleasing in your sight. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
