Contend for the Faith

Doxology: A Call to Battle

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. (Jude 1:24-25)

Omnipotent God is able to keep you from stumbling. The power of Jesus Christ will sustain the sincere believer from falling to the temptation of apostasy, abandoning the faith. We will be presented blameless before God, for we possess, as Christians, Christ's imputed righteousness through  justification by faith and have been made worthy of eternal life in heaven.

Jude ends with the "doxology"  to return to the theme of salvation and bolstered the courage of believers to know that Christ would protect them from the present apostasy and a call to battle for the truth. For he wrote, "Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to "contend for the faith" that was once for all delivered to the saints.

Lord, I come before you with a humble heart. May the prayer of your servant be a pleasing sound as we lift our voice in prayer. May we stand firm in the faith. For you alone are able to keep your servant from stumbling. May our feet stand on Your firm foundation. May we put on the whole armor of God so that we may be able to withstand the evil forces of this world and battle for truth. To you be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen..
