Don't Lose Heart

Encouragement for Challenging Times

Paul, in 2 Timothy 3, speaks to his dear friend about the last days, which are the days that Jesus initiated by His death and resurrection, His ascension, and His sending of the Holy Spirit. In this passage Paul writes that there will be seasons of particular difficulty in the last days. People will ignore God's warnings.

However, Paul encouraged Timothy. In the midst of difficult situations, "don't lose heart" Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart (2 Corinthians 4:1). He was saying, don't abandon oneself to cowardly surrender. And as for us modern-day Christians, we too are to be the light of the gospel carrying God's Word to the ends of the earth.

As we press on toward the high calling in Christ Jesus may we not lose hope but pray for spiritual strength. Paul's prayer: For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all fullness of God (Ephesians 3:14:19).

LORD, I come to you with a humble heart. Let this be our prayer that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. May we have strength to comprehend your love that surpasses knowledge. May we bow our knees before You, from which every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of your glory we may be strengthened with power through the Holy Spirit. Thank you for loving us and sending Your Son Jesus Christ to take away the sins of the world. It is in Jesus name I pray, amen.
