When We Expect God to Listen

Does God seem like he is far away or that he isn't listening when you pray? Maybe, just maybe, we are clinging to sin in our life that we need to ask God for his forgiveness for. We cannot expect God to answer our prayers when we deliberately sin. Psalm 66:16-20 says, "Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell you what he did for me. For I cried out to him for help, praising him as I spoke. If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, my Lord would not have listened. But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer. Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer and did not withdraw his unfailing love from me. We must first leave the sin in our life with God in prayer asking for forgiveness. Then God will hear our prayers. 

Dear Lord, we ask that you forgive the sinfulness in our life. We ask that you help us to let go of the things we are clinging to that would cause us to be separated from you. While it is still called today, we lay our sins at your feet so that we may have a right relationship with you.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
