Following Sound Word

Guard the Good Deposit Entrusted to You

Paul, writing to Timothy, his son in the faith, wrote;  "I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me. Follow the pattern of sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus" (2 Timothy 1:12-13).

Paul had no fear of persecution and death from preaching the gospel in a hostile setting. The reason, his confidence in God which had settled his future glory and blessing. Paul knew whom he believed and lived with unwavering confidence and boldness because of the revealed truth about God's power and faithfulness.

Not only follow, but by the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you (v. 14). This is the treasure of the good news of salvation revealed in the Scripture.

In a world that is swayed to and fro, be not swayed (Ephesians 4:14). In a world that wants no part of the gospel, have confidence in the One in whom you believe. I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6). May we guard what has been entrusted to us.

Lord, I come to you with a humble heart. Forgive your servant for when I sin against you. May I not be swayed by the events that are taking place in the days in which we live. What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. May I ever follow the sound words found in Your Word. Lead me and guide me into the wisdom needed for this life. Wisdom that leads to eternal live. Thank you for Jesus Christ who has taken away the sins of the world for those whom believe in you. May we stand firm in the faith. It is in Jesus name I pray, amen.
