Compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love, abounding in truth, forgiving, just, and patient. (Exodus 34:6-7) These are just a few of God's attributes that display his character. When God passed in front of Moses, God himself declared what His character was like. Moses might have expected God to disclose His character as a holy God who judges sin and punishes sinners after the Israelites worshiped a golden calf. However, God's desire is for us to know and understand who he is so that when he calls, we will recognize his voice. Don't misunderstand, though, God is a just God and he will not leave the guilty unpunished (v.7). But, because of his love for us; ..."Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9).
Lord, I come before you today with a humble heart. Thank you for showing us in Scripture your character. You are first loving, compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in truth, forgiving, just, and patient. May we bow our faces to the ground in worship of you. May we give honor and glory to you for your great love for us even though we are a wicked and perverse people. Forgive us where we have sinned and fallen short of your glory. Thank you for restoring us through Jesus Christ your Son. Thank you for your grace poured out on sinners such as us. May we all repent and turn away from our wicked ways while it is still called today. Let us turn our faces toward the One who loves us and created us in our mother's womb. Let us turn back to the One and only God and creator of all. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for saving us. It is in Jesus precious name I pray, amen.
