There is comfort for the contrite (Isaiah 57:15), but what is contrite? It is the one who is broken and remorseful from the affects of the guilt of sin in their lives. Isaiah gives us a reminder that God is looking for the one who is humble and contrite in spirit. It is he that the Lord will dwell with. "Thus says the LORD; heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest. All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the LORD. But this is the one whom I will look; he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word (Isaiah 66:1-2) God is looking for a heart that is tender and broken, not one concerned with the externalities of religion. God is looking to dwell in the heart of a person who takes his word seriously (Isaiah 66:5) O hear the word of the LORD all you people. Repent and be saved.
LORD, we come to you today with a humble heart and ask that you forgive us of our sin. Thank you Lord for your words of comfort for those who are broken in spirit because of the sin in our life. For none are without sin. May we be pleasing to you today Lord in our words and actions. We give you all the praise and worship. Thank you for being with us and for us. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
