Jesus Cleanses that Which is Defiled

And He Reached Out and Touched Him

True faith humbly asks the LORD to intervene and acknowledging His ability to do all things. The LORD acts only according to his perfect will. It is in this recognition of His power and His freedom to act in line with what He wills that we have begun to understand what prayer of faith looks like.

While he was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy. and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, "Lord, if you will, you can make me clean." And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, "I will; be clean." (Luke 5:12-13).

Our LORD and Savior demonstrates his compassion for man. Jesus touched him. This man had not received physical contact because of his disease. Those around him would not have wanted to contract the ritual uncleanness from him. However, Jesus compassionately extended human touch. Nothing can make Him as the perfect Son of God unclean, but rather He cleanses that which is defiled.

We are all defiled. We are all sinners in need of forgiveness (Romans 3:23-24). Thanks be to Jesus Christ, we are cleansed and made whole. We are washed by his blood on the cross and made new . We are washed white as snow (Hebrews 9:14; Isaiah 1:18). Jesus cleanses that which is defiled.

LORD, I come to you with a heart that is humbled. What a loving God we serve.  To those that are outcast, you stretch out your hand. To those who are sick you give healing. In your perfect timing and in your perfect will; you can and you will restore those to whom you wish. You give life and life abundantly. You give eternal life to those who seek you with their whole heart and acknowledge you as LORD and Savior Son of God.  Thank you for the grace that you pour out on those to whom you love each and every day. Thank you for not giving us what we deserve and that is eternal separation from you. Thank you for taking our sin and carrying it on the cross to be remembered no more.  O, how you love us, for you make clean that which is defiled. By your stripes we are healed. Thank you for your words of truth in Scripture. It is in Jesus precious name I pray, amen.
