Let Your Light Shine

...So That They May Praise Your Father in Heaven

Matthew 5:16 (NIV) states: let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Sin hinders your light. Is your "light" burning bright? Is there sin in your life that has distinguished it? If there is, it will keep you from being a good testimony for Jesus Christ. Confess that sin and ask God's forgiveness and shine for him.

Therefore be initiators of God, as beloved children. And walk in. love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." ( Ephesians 5:1-2, 8-13).

The pure and illuminating light of God's word exposes all the secrets of sin. Seek to live in righteousness and let your light shine for the glory and praise of our Father in heaven.

LORD, I come to you with a humble heart. Thank you for your words in Scripture that keep my heart seeking after you. Thank you for showing us how to live a life that is pleasing to you. Please forgive my sin against you. May all that I do shine the light of Jesus Christ in my life. May others see you in me so that they may praise you. I have fallen so many times that I am broken over my sin. I seek for you with all that is in me and fall on my knees in worship to my God and my Savior. My heart cries out to you. May all people young and old seek you. May they turn from a life of walking away from you to a life that is pleasing to you. May they seek forgiveness of sin and ask that you be the LORD and Savior of their life. For you are there seeking and knocking on our hearts door. If anyone should open, You will come in and dine with us. You will be our all and all, our Savior and Lord. It is in Jesus precious name I pray, amen.
