The Ultimate Love

I have loved you with an everlasting love. (Jeremiah 31:3)  As we celebrate this Valentine's Day, lets focus on the very nature of God.

Three things are told us in Scripture concerning the nature of God.
  • First, "God is a Spirit". God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and truth. (John 4:24).
  • Second, "God is light".  This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that "God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. ( 1 John 1:5)
  • Third, God is love." Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4;8)

Think about the words "Love You More!", We use those words often. Now think about those words in light of Jeremiah 31:3. Who is speaking these words? It is God himself! The same God who called the entire universe into being. "Let there be...," he said. And it was. (Genesis 1:1) That's the one who loves you! The same God who crafts each child, dimples and all, loves you. (Psalm 139:13) He can legitimately proclaim: "Love you more!" God's very nature is love-heartfelt, powerful, genuine love. Love is who he is! And he alone enables us to truly love. God's greatest act of love came to earth wrapped in cloth and lying in a manger. He, God, even showed us the ultimate love by giving his own Son, loved us to death-his own- even when we were sinful and totally unlovable.

The Bible says: "God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) His love never ends and is the best news of all! No matter what happened yesterday, regardless of what happens today or tomorrow, you can be sure his infinite love will hold you close, now and forever!
