Love Over Strife

Covering Offenses With Love

Proverbs 10:12 states: Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses. Did we get that? Hatred stirs the pot of strife. It causes problems even within the body of Christ. This should not be so, for we know that this not only wounds and mangles relationships but is sin against God himself. How can we say that we love God if we have a tongue that kills. In essence, isn't this what we are doing when we cause strife among our family, friends, and coworkers? Have you been guilty of this? Have I been guilty of this? I venture to say so for some. On the other hand, Love covers all offenses. Love covers ALL offenses, Love doesn't seek its own way, love seeks to make peace with those around them and with God. Love seeks life for others and themselves. In this we have fulfilled God's command to love others as ourselves.
Lord, I come to you today and ask that you forgive the strife I've cause between those that are around me. I have sinned against you and wounded the one made in your image. Hatred and strife are of the evil one. The ruler of this world. It is worldly minded seeking its own desires. When I allow it to stir in my heart it only brings misery and pain and a deaf ear to my prayers. It is a foul stench instead of a pleasing aroma offered unto you. It tears down and destroys others. O woe unto me a sinner of unclean lips. Help me to be Christ minded when offenses come. Help me to love others as you love me. Thank you for loving me when I am unloving. Thank you for dying on the Cross of Calvary in my place. Thank you for restoring my soul unto you. It is in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
