Where is Your Focus?
Many times in life we have or someone we know has asked the question "Where is God?". Where is He at my lowest point in my life when troubles beset me.
Psalm 23, a Psalm of David, directs us to stay focused on God and not on the situation or trouble we may find ourselves in. David gave testimony to the Lord's faithfulness throughout his life, thereby, giving us a picture of confidence. The Lord himself is our Shepherd King-Host. Verse 4 states, "...for you are with me..." David new where his help came from. It wasn't in his own power or strength that he could overcome, but by keeping his focus on God. As Shepherd King-Host God will protect and direct our steps.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. he restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (Psalm 23:1-4).
So, the next time we question as to where God is, He is right there with you. He is right there walking with you through the trials of life. He is there waiting for you to take your eyes off your circumstance and turn them back on Him. He is there waiting for you to see that He is your Shepherd who is protecting and directing you.
Stay in and study God's word. Open the Bible and memorize Scripture. It is our weapon against spiritual warfare.
Lord, thank you for your protection and direction. I come to you with a humble heart asking that you forgive me when I fall short and take my eyes off of you. It is then that my circumstances seem to big for me to handle on my own. May my focus be ever on you and your word. My heart is filled with joy by your word. You bring hope and peace and settle my soul. You are the Good Shepherd who protects his children. Thank you for Jesus Christ my Lord and my Savior. It is in Jesus name I pray, amen.
