Matthew 6: 33 states: "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness".
Matthew was writing about being anxious about the things of life such as, what we will eat, drink, or how we are to be clothed. Sometimes we can put all of these things, which are what we have need of, between us and Christ Jesus. Even in the good things, they sometimes can become idolatry.
However, if we put Christ first and seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, he will add all of these things to you (v.33). Let us remember to put Christ Jesus first in our lives, for in it there is victory!
Lord, I come to you with a humble and contrite heart. May all that I do point to Jesus Christ my Savior. May I not allow even the good things to come between Christ and myself, for then it becomes idolatry. May I keep my eyes on the prize and ever walk according to your commandments. Give me the strength to endure and walk with encouragement the race set before me. May I never lose heart, but fight the good fight of faith. You have made me more than an overcomer, but a conquer. By Jesus stripes I am healed and have eternal life. May my heart and mind keep you ever before me helping me to walk with you as my guide. May you always be first in my life for I seek your will. It is in Jesus precious name I pray, amen.
