Putting Others First

Bearing One Another's Burdens

Galatians 6:2 calls for us to bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
That's a hard thing to do. However, we are called as Children of God to bear the heavy difficulties or problems of others.  We are to join in and so help carry with endurance the burdens or problems that others find difficult to carry on their own. By doing so, we fulfill the law of Christ.

When we put others first and remember to pray for one another our own burdens seem as though they become lessened. When we pray for those who are less fortunate who hardly have food enough food for this day, or a roof over their head, our burdens become less. When we pray for those whose family has lost a loved one or parents whose child has cancer, our burdens become less. For those that are watching a loved one fade before their eyes through the grief of Alzheimer's disease, our burdens become less. For those who are lying in a hospital bed waiting on the diagnosis of which may be a life threatening illness, our burdens become less.

Let us put others first by prayer. Let us, with endurance, carry the burdens of others. Let us not only pray for them but act on their behalf. By doing so, we will fulfill the law of Christ. Our hearts will be in tune with his.

Lord, I come to you with a humble heart. I come to you with the cry for forgiveness for putting myself first when I am burdened by life's trials. Give me the strength to put others first even when I have enough to carry of my own. By doing so I fulfill your law. My heart longs to obey your every word. Thank you for Scriptures such as these for they help me to endure the day. Scriptures such as these help me to put on your eyes to see others in the way that you may see them. May I put on Jesus Christ each day of my life. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for Jesus Christ who came to redeem us. It is in Jesus precious name I pray, amen.
