The accuser has been cast down. John by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote the book of Revelation. In chapter 12: 7-12 he writes: "I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God' (v.10).
God is gracious and merciful, and when we confess our sins to Him, He forgives us for the sake of Christ. The battle has been won! The accuser has been cast down! When we start to think things such as "God could never forgive me for that," then we are hearing the voice of the enemy. Let us pay no heed to that voice but believe God's promise that he forgives even the worst of our sins when we trust in Jesus alone.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, fully and completely satisfied our Creator's wrath against his sinful people (Romans 3:21-26). There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus by faith (Rom. 8:1). If we trust in Jesus, we have been truly forgiven, and God is so just that He will not refuse to pardon those who trust in Christ. For God not to forgive us when Jesus has already borne the full penalty of our wickedness would be to force us to suffer in hell for a debt that has already been satisfied.
We must press forward so that we know that we know we possess, in the struggle against the enemy, true forgiveness and grace. We must return to the Bible again and again to remain in His word and in His promises for strength and encouragement. For God cannot lie (Titus 1:2).
Lord, I humbly come before you. I ask that you forgive me when I sin and fall short of Your glory. Give me the strength to fight the battle against this flesh that wants to remain downcast when I fall. For this in itself is sinful, for it is listening to the lie of the enemy. You have already won the battle, for Christ has paid the penalty for my sin past present and future. By his stripes I am healed and by his blood I am covered. Sin has no hold on me. There is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus by faith. Thank You for loving us and sending Your Son to take our place on the cross of Calvary. May all that hear Your word this day come to a saving relationship with you. May they open their hearts to see wondrous things from Your law. As we lift our voice in prayer, may it be a pleasing sound to You this day. May all that we do point to our Risen Savior, Conqueror, and King. It is in Jesus precious name I pray. Amen.
