Striving to Speak the Truth in Love

As we strive to love our enemies as God called us to do and to pray for those who persecute us, we are called to "[speak} the truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15) Loving someone who causes physical or mental harm to us is one of the hardest things for us to do, yet as Jesus Christ has so loved us, so shall we love others (Matthew 22:39). For we are called to be imitators of Him (Ephesians 5:1-2). Scripture tells us to not only love in word or talk, but in deed and in truth (1 John 3:18).  As we strive to speak the truth in love, let us also be quick to  listen, and slow to anger (James 1:6). As Christians, we should be the most loving and gracious people the world knows. We should be the most righteous, repentant and steadfast people the world knows. We are to stand on the Word of God and to speak the truth in love. 

Lord, forgive us of our sin and anger toward those who may have hurt us. Help us to love others as you so loved us and to speak the truth in love. Help us to be a steadfast people and humble ourselves before you. Thank you for giving us your Word that speaks your truth into our lives. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
