Spiritual Armor

God is Our Victor

Ephesians 6:10-18

As I read about the Spiritual Armor, I drew a picture of what it might look like. I always see the image of a strong soldier, standing, ready for battle. But as I read verse 18, the image changed in my mind.

V. 18 "Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints." (CSB)

I realize now that the picture is not of a man on his feet, but on his knees --Surrendered. It is through prayer our armor is made strong; it is when we fully surrender that we are invincible- God is our victor.

Submission is the way of true power and strength. We are called to submit ourselves to God's power and divine plan. We acknowledge that Him as the Creator (Gen 1:1). Sustainer (Psalm 54:4), and Strong Tower which we run to (Proverbs 18:10). We pray for HIS protection, HIS guidance, HIS security, HIS will. This is our role: to submit in prayer and be obedient to his calling. God does not need me to be mighty conqueror, but rather surrendered to the mighty God. Though ironically, when we are surrendered, we ARE mighty conquerors, inspired and equipped by a Holy God to do great things through Him, just as was fulfilled through Christ. (Ephesians 1:20-23)

And our battle is not just our own, we are battling for ALL  the Saints!  What an incredible picture that brings to mind. Imagine us placed between the forces of evil and the saints, ON OUR KNEES! God is mighty and powerful, but we don't have to be...He is our TRUE strength.

Dear Lord,
Thank you that you are our protector, our power, and our strength. Help me to remember that you are the victor, and I am your tool. I pray for your guidance in every situation, and thank you that you care so much for me. I lift to you my daily struggles, and those of my friends and families. I pray that they, too, know you, and that I may know how to lift them to you in prayer and intercession. You are my mighty Savior, my refuge, and my strength. Amen.
