Jesus always used analogies in his parables that the people could relate to. More than once has he used the "bridegroom'" to tell those in earshot what heaven is likened to. In the parable of the ten virgins, Jesus told of five who had their lamps ready to go out to meet the bridegroom. When the bridegroom came they were ready to meet him. However, the other five, who were unprepared, had no oil nor their wicks ready to burn the oil (Matthew 25:1-13) The foolish virgins asked of the wise to give them oil for their lamps so that they, too, may go out to meet him. To paraphrase, the bridegroom came. Those that were wise went with him to the marriage supper and the door was shut while the foolish had gone to buy oil. They missed the second coming of the LORD. Are we ready? Even if his coming is delayed longer than what is expected. When he does return, there will be no second chances for the unprepared.
LORD, I come to you today with a humble heart asking that you forgive me of my sin. Forgive me when business takes away the time I need to study Your Word. Apart from you I am nothing. It is in you that I have my breath of life. And it is in you that I have eternal life. My soul is overwhelmed by your mercies toward me O LORD. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for redeeming my soul. It is in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
