The Church Triumphant

Our Confidence and Triumphant Victory

We are engaged in warfare as the church on earth and as such we are called to put on God's armor being always alert. On earth the church may look as though she is struggling and weak, declining in numbers and power, but Christians must never forget the victory of the church triumphant containing those in heaven whom God has saved.

We ought be encouraged by the church triumphant as modern day Christians. For it is not unlike the situation centuries ago. In 2 Kings 6:16-17 were we find Elisha. The city in which he was staying was surrounded by the Syrian army. Elisha's servant was terrified, thinking that God's enemies would destroy them. But Elisha recognized the reality of the situation: "He said, "Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them. "Then Elisha prayed and said, "O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see". So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Let us remember the church triumphant in heaven and Jesus Himself in our midst by His Holy Spirit.  "Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4).

LORD, I come to you with a humble heart. In so many ways throughout the entire Scriptures you encourage your children. You give us the strength to continue the battle we are in against the principalities of this world. You have made us more than conquers through Jesus Christ. Please open our eyes that we may see the situation around us so that we may be able to withstand your foes. Open our eyes so that we may be continually encouraged and see your great strength and protection that you give to each one of us who are called by your name. May our prayer be pleasing to you. May our devotion be pleasing to you. May the words of my mouth be true and honoring to you. I lift my voice in worship to you. I love you LORD for you first loved me. May those who do not know you open their eyes and listen with their hearts. May they listen to the call on their hearts to repent and turn to you. It is in Jesus precious name I pray, amen.
