For those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, today is Good Friday. Today is the day that Christ chose to endure the cross. Today is the day that Jesus died for us to bring us in right relation to God our Father. And today should be for us one of the most sorrowful yet joyful days in the history of mankind. Without Jesus' perfect work on the cross, we should be most pitied among man. However, Christ died for our sins according to Scripture (1 Corinthians 15:3-4), which is the inerrant Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16) It is by his work on the cross that we can enjoy the life we live with hope. For he bore our transgressions and by his stripes we are healed. "He was crushed for our iniquities and upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace." ( Isaiah 53:5) Christ sacrificed himself for us all and once for all (Romans 6:10). He is the death conconquer and sin bearer.
Take a moment and reflect on what Good Friday means. If we truly understand what Jesus has done for us, we should then really do a deep heart searching and repent of our sins. How can we continue to willfully entertain the very sin that killed Christ? Whenever we sin as believers, we are acting out the very sins which caused Christ to die.
May his peace be with you as we celebrate this Easter knowing that Jesus has paid it all.
