Contentment in Christ
"I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.." (Philippians 4:11).
The Apostle Paul, writing from prison to the Philippians, rejoiced in his readers' generosity and encouraged them to rest in the Lord's goodness. For he knows from experience that true contentment is found only in Christ. The true Christian who loves the Lord Jesus Christ sees the incredible blessing of salvation in Him and desires godliness. "Godliness with contentment is great gain" (1 Timothy 6:6) because it is living in communion with God himself. Having life in and with Christ, he has it for life and eternity. What could be better than growing in likeness to Him? What could be better than life in contentment and communion with God? It is the greatest gain of all.
Lord, I come to you with humbleness and awe of your great love for those that are yours.. My heart is overwhelmed by your loving kindness. May we seek your face and turn away from our wicked ways. Thank you for redeeming my life from the wrath of God and bring me to you. I count it as the greatest gain. The world's' greatest riches cannot compare to you. You know my heart as I cannot find the words to express my thankfulness. I fall on my knees in reverence and worship to the One true God. My soul cries out as the deer pants for water. I thirst for your righteousness and seek your face God of my Salvation. It is in the precious name of Jesus I pray, amen.
