Window Into The Heart Of A Loving God
How patient and loving or Lord God is. Everywhere Jesus went a crowd of publicans, criminals, robbers, thugs, harlots, and other riffraff who made no effort at all to live by the standard of Jewish law continually followed him. Yet, Jesus did not shun them. God pursues the lost and "is patient...not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9) Jesus, knowing the Father's tender compassion toward the lost, spoke of a series of parables in Luke 15. And all these parables make the same point — God does not sit passively by while people are going to hell. He does not delight in the destruction of the wicked. He loves us, pursues us, and longs for us to be saved. He is jubilant at the redemption of even one lost sinner. (Luke 15: 1-7)
Lord, thank you that you seek for the lost. Thank you for continually looking for those that you love so that we may find you. My heart is overwhelmed at the thought that you are ever present caring for me. I love you Lord. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
