Being a Prayer Warrior for Our Children

The number one thing on our hearts and minds as parents is for our children to have a fervent faith. As parents it is vital that we bring our children's hearts to a fervent faith in Jesus Christ.

Most of us are familiar with the parable of the parodical son in Luke 15:11-32. Jesus told the story of a son who shockingly requested that his father give him his share of property that was coming to him. This request was so shocking because it was tantamount to saying he wished his father were dead. He was not entitled to inheritance while his father was still living. This son gathered all he had and went on a journey to a far country and squandered his property in reckless living. It wasn't until he had began to be in great need and longed to be fed with the pigs that he would return to his father.. However, it wasn't for his love for his father that he had decided to go home. The pigsty had done its work. He came to himself and began to think of the plentifulness in his fathers house. While the son was still along way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. This son was once dead, and now is alive; he was lost, and is found.

Children are exposed to so many things in this age that we live in. Even more so with the ease of access to technology which consumes our time, energy, and minds. Therefore, we must pray for our children not only to be good kids but godly kids. Then, as the bombardment of temptations come their way, they will be able to withstand.

Let us pray Scripture of over our children and  put our trust in God that he will capture their hearts. Our pray should consist of more than for them to be safe, successful, healthy, and well but that their hearts would be transformed. For we cannot convert our children. It is the work of God.

Lord, I come to you with a humble heart. My hearts desire is for my children to have a proper relationship with you. I ask that you create in my children a clean heart that they may not sin against you. Help me to look at myself and see what you are teaching me through my children and give me the wisdom that I need to bring up godly children in this age that we live in. It is my prayer for my children that their love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that they may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. It is in Jesus name I pray, amen.
