But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you (John 14:26). While this verse, in context, was written for the apostles to energize their hearts and minds in their ministry helping them to produce the NT Scriptures, it is also there for us as modern-day Christians to understand the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. God himself deposited the truth. One of the greatest gifts given to the world by God himself was given to us through the Holy Spirit who inspired the written words of God in the pages of Scripture. He has given us the truth—divine truth. The truth about himself, the truth about life and death, the truth about time and eternity, the truth about judgement, the truth about salvation, the truth about heaven, and the truth about hell. It is the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, who testifies with our spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8:16). It is the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who in the times of trouble, who helps us to recall His word for comfort, peace, and strength. Let us not discount the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Lord, I come to you today with a humble heart. Thank you for the work of the Holy Spirit in my life. Thank you for sending an advocate to strengthen and encourage me. I would not have known of your great mercys if it were not for the work of the Holy Spirit who testifies with my spirit that I am a child of God. It brings peace to my very soul to know that you are here, right here, with me. You are here guiding and protecting me against those things in which I cannot see. Thank you for Jesus Christ for his righteousness covers me. I have been cleansed by his blood and made new. Sin and death no longer reign over me. It is in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
