We have hope and assurance in Gods Word. We can find training, mentoring, guidance, and wisdom from the Scriptures. Parenting is a fulfilling job that never ends. For children are a blessing from God. "Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: And the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; So are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: They shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate."(Psalm 127:3-5).
If you are a parent you know what it is to have your child call you to have a conversation about what they have gleaned from Gods word. I had such a call on an early Saturday morning. My mind went racing to the Scriptures that my heart clings to and gives promise and wisdom for parents. Proverbs 22:6 states; "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
How shall you train your children? We find the answer in Deuteronomy 6:7-9 as Scripture tells us when and how to train up our children. "You shall teach them (the commandments of God) diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."
Lord, I come to you with a humble heart. Thank you for allowing Your servant to see the beauty in Your Word. What a blessing it is to have your children come to understand Scripture. It is encouragement to continue the race set before us. May all that we do and say this day You have made for us be pleasing to You. May we bind Your Word as frontlets on our hearts and minds so that we may teach it to our children. O, how my soul is overwhelmed by Your goodness and mercies that are new every morning. I pray for every parent that they stand firm and grounded in Your Word. May our prayer of worship and praise be a pleasing sound to you this day. It is in Jesus precious name I pray, amen.
