When We Pray

Witness to the King

 Right now, the kingship of Christ is recognized by every single inhabitant of heaven. At this moment, no creature in heaven, great or small, is living for one second in defiance of the King. The King is exalted. he is worshiped. He is honored. Most significantly, He is obeyed in heaven. Jesus said, "When you pray, pray that the kingdom will come on earth." This was not just a passing thought for Jesus. ~R.C. Sproul

While we wait for the return of our King, we are to continue to live in the meantime seeking the kingdom of God and his righteousness. When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray in Matthew 6:10 he taught them to pray like this: Our Father in heaven, hollowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. We must seek first the kingdom of God in holy reverence to Him. And as we live we will be his witnesses bringing our lives in captivity to obedience in righteousness.

Lord Jesus, I come to you with a humbled heart. Hollowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. It is in Jesus name I pray, amen.
